Easter. You may not celebrate it … you may nor care about it … you may just be enjoying the days off.
But … I want to talk about it. Now, I am no Christian. I follow no religion. I read, I take what resonates and I leave the rest. I walk my own path.
And yet, obviously I am the most familiar with Christianity because my Mum took us to church when we were young, and we were exposed to it. And along our lives most of the people we knew were Christians’ or Catholics. Not devout, not shouting on corners, just devout in their quiet faith.
At Easter I take time to think … to consider the life of Jesus and what happened to him. … Now you may say Christian’s stole Easter from other beliefs, that it is Ishtar, that it is Pagan, that it is this or that. Be that as it may, Jesus existed, lived and taught, and so I look upon him as a worthy teacher and inspiration, one of many. And I believe we all have a right to believe what we choose to believe, but it is good to be open to listening, contemplating.
So … Jesus. He taught. He had the most immaculate faith in God. Was he the actual son of God? We are ALL the sons and daughters of God / Universal Consciousness / Source Energy / The Great Spirit. We are all made of the same Consciousness. That is why Jesus told us ‘you will do as I have done but you will do greater things’ because he knew we were no different to him, we had the same potential that he realized.
But back to my train of writing …
Why was Jesus crucified? Why was he beaten, whipped, nailed to a cross, stabbed, left to die? Because he refused to deny his beliefs. He refused to deny what he knew to be true. He refused to appease the powerful people in charge, he refused to appease the many people around him. He refuse to denounce his knowing, his faith, just to save himself. He refused to say ‘It is all lies, I am sorry, forgive me, I will never speak of it again.’ He knew his body was only a vehicle. He knew that what he knew was true.
He also knew, through is life, that this would be his journey. The crucifixion. He knew he would die.
Three days after he died on the cross, he was seen, glowing brightly. First by Mary who ran and told the others, who were then annoyed that it was not them who he appeared to first.
Anyway … all of this brings me to a very important point: what did Jesus teach? He taught love. To “love one another as I have loved you.” He taught us to love. He taught us to have faith in the Father / God / Universal Consciousness / Source Energy / that from which all comes.
On my early bike ride this morning I was irritated, annoyed, almost angry, that there is so much anger and hatred around, that social media is filled with anger, that people are angry, annoyed, steal what is not theirs, damage what is not theirs, blame people for everything wrong in their lives, and complain that they cannot afford to buy chocolate eggs for Easter (chocolate is an expensive luxury … sitting in contemplation is free.)
I received some very clear guidance on my ride as I cycled along, thinking, talking quietly to Source Energy / Universal Consciousness. Do I want to be angry, annoyed, pissed off, fed up? No. I want peace in the world, I want love in the world. Then … the guidance came so clearly … “Do not give any energy to that which is not peace. Do not give any energy to that which is not love.” Simple. Profound. Walk the talk, or shut up.
On the ride home, I felt so peaceful, so calm.
The line in the sand had been drawn.
I will not participate in anger. I will not give it any energy.
I will not participate in blame. I will not give it any energy.
I will not believe the news or social media, since so much is AI anyway, and so much is false, twisted, biased. I will not give it any energy.
I will give my energy to peaceful thoughts, loving thoughts, peaceful people, loving people, sunshine, I will love the plants I grow and thank them, I will joyously harvest a single tomato, I will cherish the clothes I wear. I will not give any energy to anything that is not love or peace.
I will stand by my own faith, by my own choice, as Jesus stood by his beliefs, never conceding just to appease others.
Easter is not about chocolate. It is about love, it is about peace. It is about your choice of path.
No war is sanctioned by God
No death is sanctioned by God
God does not take sides.
God loves every atom of all of life
And God is Source Energy … Universal Consciousness …. Eternal Wisdom
God is the great unfathomable, unknowable ….
And yet … God is us. You and I. All of us. We are each other.
There is no separation.
Jesus knew that.
He gave us what we needed to know so that we could come to know it too.
Love.
Love all of life, all of it.
And you will come to know what he knew.
That’s what I wanted to share … It is Easter Sunday, and Sundays are my times of cycling and reflection.
